May kinalaman ang mga ito sa pag-aaral, pag-aalaala, at pagpoproseso ng impormasyon; pakikipagusap; pagdedesisyon; at pag-fofocus, and all of these help athletes be smart and strategic sa kanilang game. Even scientists have proven that athletes think intelligently!
Narito ang ilan sa mga rason kung bakit matalino ang mga athletes. And, if you encourage your child to play a sport, they will grow up learning these skills, too!
They’re good listeners
Lagi nating naririnig na smart students are great listeners, and that goes for athletes, too! Sports develop listening skills. Para maging magaling na manlalaro, athletes must listen closely to their coach’s instructions, game plays, and strategies. Importanteng makinig ng mabuti para matutunan at maintindihan ang kailangan gawin sa isang game.
They know how to follow instructions
Siyempre hindi lang dapat makinig nang mabuti ang mga athletes, they should be able to apply what they’re learning to how they play. Kailangan nilang sumunod sa instructions every time they play, and following instructions actually involves many brain functions working all at once. Athletes need to sustain their focus, process instructions quickly, remember the information, and execute!
They’re strategic and analytical thinkers
Alam mo ba hindi lang muscles ang ginagamit ng sports climbers when they scale walls? Iniisip rin sila kung anong ruta ang best to take to get to the top quickly and safely. For basketball players naman, strategic rin ang pag-handle nila ng bola — they make quick decisions like how much to bend their elbows sa pag-shoot or if dapat nga bang i-shoot ang bola o ipasa sa isang teammate. Yes, sports games demand a lot of thinking to win!
They’re problems solvers
A weightlifter will ask herself, “Paano ko kakargahin ang barbel na ito para madala ko siya from the floor to over my head?” While defensive soccer players will think, “Paano ko poprotektahan ang goalie or pigilan ang kalaban maka-score o mapasa ang bola?” To solve these challenges, athletes will have to gather information, make fast decisions, then execute them.
They can focus on tasks
Sports require sustained focus to keep the mind and body coordinated well throughout a game. Sa basketball, a player must put all their attention into shooting the ball to make sure it gets in the basket. By practicing this skill of focusing regularly, athletes will have the advantage of using this sa iba’t ibang sitwasyon sa buhay.
